This guide to Bristol for U.S. Military was produced by the British Council in 1943 for all armed service personnel who were either stationed in Bristol or were likely to visit. Similar guides were produced for cities in Britain wherever the Yanks were based. You can get your own self-guided tour here.

This guide was found on ebay around twenty years ago. If you want to buy your own, it is worth checking regularly as they do sometimes become available. In addition to Bristol, guides were made for most cities large towns and places of interest that American military personnel were able to visit during the Second World War.

In addition to the city guides, a A Short Guide to Great Britain was produced by the US War and Navy Departments for all military personnel. It introduced Americans to British ways and customs as they made their way across the Atlantic. An scanned, online version is available here. Original copies may be available to buy online although check, as most seem to be scanned reproductions.
